It doesn't work on my account when booting in safe mode either. It works properly on that account, but it still doesn't work on my own account. The only thing that has "worked" was to make a new user with administrator rights, and then logging in to that account. I have tried running the Troubleshooter, ending the "explorer.exe" task in the Task Manager, restarting my computer (obviously), and I've tried searching around the internet for guides on related issues (for example this one), but nothing helps. For example, I can search for, find, and open "Paint 3D" (trusted app) just like normal but when I search for "Paint" (desktop app), I find it, but I cannot open it.Īnother strange thing is that I can open up the start menu, scroll down ( without using the search bar), find any program (including desktop apps like "Chrome" and "Paint"), and open them without any problem thus it seems like the problem it exclusively restricted to the search bar and not the start menu as a whole. I noticed this morning that some programs are working, and it seems like all of them are "Trusted Windows Store Apps" (like when you type in "Settings" in the search bar. Nor does anything happen if I press "enter" after typing in what I want to search for. But, when I click on the suggested programs (for example, Google Chrome), nothing happens. It opens up just like normal, and when I type into the search bar I get search alternatives just like normal. So starting yesterday my Windows search bar has been acting a bit strange.
